Vellore: Sunday June 25, 2023

National Christian Council Tamil Nadu under the leadership of the State President Rev. R. Prabu conducted Awards Ceremony yesterday to honor the services of distinguished leaders in several categories.  The awardees included people from all faiths like Hindus, Muslims, Jains and Christians.

Speaking on the occasion Central Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramadas Athawale who was the Chief Guest in the function, reminded that the goal of Modi government is to work with all communities irrespective of their religion or region.  He said that as the awards are being given out to all religions that his party Republican Party of India works for all religions and communities.

NCC Founder President The Rt. Rev. Dr. Sam Paul congratulated the recipients and remarked that this is a wonderful landmark they have achieved and that this award should motivate each one to do more and a better service in the days ahead.  He welcomed the Home Minister’s all party meeting on Manipur and observed that why the Home Minister had to wait 47 days to conduct such an important meeting.  He deplored that it is 42 days late as in 4 or 5 days when the situation did not come to normalcy the meeting should have been conducted.  He also said that the silence of the Prime Minister on the subject is very saddening.

Dr. Sam Paul thanked the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. Stalin for passing the Dalit Christian Reservation bill in TN assembly, he appealed to all other states too to follow the example of TN Chief Minister.   He appealed to the Minority Welfare Minister of Tamilnadu Thiru Gingee K.S. Masthan  that Christian Community halls should be constructed in all the Talukas of all the 38 districts in Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu State President Rev. R. Prabu described how several persons receiving these awards dared their very life for serving others.  Especially during Covid pandemic how these people sacrificed their comfort zones and served.  He was emotional when describing some of their deep commitments.

NCC National Vice President, Rev. Brighty Beulah said that NCC has 17 Wings and one of the wing is Women’s Wing. She said that women can accomplish anything if they determine to do something and that Women are the change makers in the family, in the community and in the society.  She described the example of how NCC Women’s Wing in Andhra Pradesh worked with the Women Welfare Minister. She pointed that the NCC Tamil Nadu women’s wing should be a bridge between the needy women and the government of Tamil Nadu.  She thanked the organizers for choosing to give an award to  her in recognition of her eleven years of work amongst the special children especially the hearing impaired children.  She dedicated her award to all those that work for the welfare of the Children with Special Needs, especially to her colleagues and superior officers that are always guiding and cooperating with her in SSA- Project of the government of India.
