NCC Celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti In Jhalod, Gujarat

Jhalod, Dahod District, Gujarat – 14 April 2026 (NCC Correspondent)

The National Christian Council (NCC) marked the Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a solemn and spirited celebration held at the CNI Church, Jhalod, on 14 April. The event drew several hundred leaders and participants from Dahod and neighboring districts from all major and many smaller denominations, reaffirming NCC’s commitment to constitutional values, social justice, and inclusive empowerment.

The program began with tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution and champion of marginalized communities. NCC Founder President & Bishop Primate The Rt. Rev. Dr. Sam Paul Kolakaluri, Former State level Member of Prime Minister’s 15 Point Program for Minorities, delivered the keynote address. He urged Indian Christians to “hold the Bible in one hand and the Constitution of India in the other,” emphasizing that while the Bible teaches love for God and neighbour, the Constitution—drafted under Dr. Ambedkar’s leadership—guarantees freedom of belief, practice, and preaching of faith.

He further outlined ten key economic principles advocated by Dr. Ambedkar for the upliftment of marginalized communities, stressing their relevance in today’s socio-economic context.

National Vice President The Rev. Brighty Beulah highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s pioneering role in the emancipation of women, noting his contributions to gender equality and access to education for all, including women. She underscored that Ambedkar’s vision continues to inspire NCC’s advocacy for inclusive education and empowerment.

The Rev. Dr. Ravi Beatty, Gujarat State President, spoke on NCC’s interventions in national issues, including its response to the situation in Manipur and its efforts in organizing symposiums addressing Anti-Conversion Laws. He emphasized NCC’s proactive role in safeguarding constitutional rights and promoting dialogue on pressing social concerns.

The event also witnessed the appointment of several leaders to State and District responsibilities. Among them, Mrs. Alvina ben Machhar, a government Best Teacher awardee, was appointed as State Employees Wing President. Many other key appointees received appointment orders, strengthening NCC’s organizational presence across Gujarat.

Distinguished leaders including Mr. Nelsonbhai,  Swami Yebbezu, Dr. Mercy and others addressed the gathering, adding depth to the program with reflections on Ambedkar’s legacy and NCC’s mission. The atmosphere was marked by active participation, unity, and a reaffirmation of NCC’s dedication to constitutional values and social justice.

The celebration concluded with a strong message of hope and empowerment, as NCC leaders and participants pledged to continue advancing the vision of Dr. Ambedkar in both spiritual and social spheres.

Importantly, the event received wide coverage from local audio-visual media in Gujarati as well as many other media outlets, amplifying the message of constitutional faith and social justice to a broader audience.
